An Actors Journey

How “Desperate” was I for a shameless plug?

May 17th, 2005

So I was on my way to Vegas for work and I know what your thinking, damn Vegas! That’s what I said…So I board the plane and lucky for me I’m sitting in first class, gotta love my job :)… I’m one of the first couple of people to board the plane and I’m putting my carry on luggage in the overhead compartments. When I sat down I noticed an attractive lady putting her stuff away and getting ready for the long 5 hour flight. We exchange glances and I don’t think nothing of it because I couldn’t really see her face and brushed it off as a friendly gesture, which it was.

I then notice that this same lady took off her hat & sunglasses which allowed me to see her face. When I looked I found myself doing a double take because the lady was none other than Teri Hatcher. So I do what anybody would’ve done, I say to her in a very sincere voice “Hey Teri” and she looks at me as if she knew me for years. I guess it was the fact that I didn’t come across like a screaming fan saying “Teri, teri, look over here…” or something to that affect.

She was very nice and said “Hello” followed by “and what is your name?” which I responded with the obvious “Tomas”. As she said “nice to meet you” and shook my hand other passengers began to occupy the plane and interupted the flow of conversation. So I proceeded to do what I had started which was pull out the Ipod and listen to tunes to relax for the flight.

As I was on the flight I started to think that I should give her my Acting Business card and maybe she could pass it on to help out a struggling actor which we all know has been a part of successful actors lives at one point in time. Lets just say it took me the whole flight to muster up the courage for a Shameless self promotion.

So what did I learn from this experience? Well, I learned that it doesn’t hurt to promote yourself and try to network whenever possible. Has it translated to an actual acting job? Not as of yet but who knows.

So Teri, if you by chance find my card in your bag where you placed it after viewing it, I hope you enjoyed your stay in Vegas and drop me a line via my site….

Litterbug - short film

April 29th, 2005

Just finished a fun weekend of shooting this cool short film “Litterbug”. The movie was shot from the POV of a Porter and showed a snapshot of the life, struggles of a Porter trying to keep his building clean of litter.

This film was a comedic piece and one of many that I’ve had the opportunity to showcase my talents. I played the lead character named “Andre” and brought out his sense of humor and professionalism as a porter.

Hope to see it soon and will post some clips as soon as they come in…

Just finished editing my Reel, hope you enjoy

November 27th, 2004

I have completed editing my reel and have it available in two formats. I have to warn you, these are compressed for web viewing but they are still somewhat large files. If you are on dial-up connection you will be waiting a while to see them.

Take your pick:

Cuidado - my VHS/DVD debut has been delayed!

November 25th, 2004

So I received a letter via snail mail from the Director Juney Smith of the movie “Cuidado”. It appears that the release of this movie has been pushed back from Nov. 2004 to 3rd Quarter 2005.

I’m a bit disappointed but that’s the way things roll in show business. I saw a pre-screening of this film in the summer and really can’t wait to see the final copy on the video stand. As I’m always excited to see work that I’ve done on the screen, I’ll just have to wait a bit to see this movie in where I played a Drug Dealer. A pretty fly Drug Dealer if you ask me ;)

Law & Order: Trial by Jury

November 17th, 2004

So I was on the set for Law & Order new spin off show Trial by Jury. I know what your thinking wow, that’s great news and I must’ve had a blast. Well you are right, it was great to be on the set, although I was a background actor. I also had great conversations with other actors and ate a lot of craft services.

The role I was going to be playing was that of a Food Delivery Guy on what I think was the 4th show. The only bad part was that I wasn’t used for the scene. I know, I know…you’re thinking well at least you got paid. This is true, the check should be in the mail but for an upcoming actor such as myself, I don’t work for the money. I’m in it for the craft and genuine enjoyment I get out of being in front of that camera and hearing the keyword “Action”.

So I guess better luck next time… :)
